STATEMENT OF INTENT
Electro dance is a perpetual search for connexions and connivance with music, with the world around us, and above all with others. We wish to be one and many at the same time, to create a unique dialogue, and to make obvious the link between the body and the mind, be them united or separated.
We wish to be a single being, made out of several. We want to be a chimera…
The chimera can take on any form, be it that of a being, an object or a mutant organism, of a real or imaginary monster, of a bright future or a project that is doomed to failure.
The chimera is the embodiement of our wildest fantasies and our deepest fears, as fascinating as it is horrifying, unnerving and frightening. We cannot bring ourselves to face it, yet we keep chasing it, day after day.
Our chimera is meant as an incarnation of all these aspects, and aims at recreating this inner uneasiness by replicating it on stage.
We are one dancer and many; we create an optical illusion and aim for the senses. We disrupt the audience’s perception using melted bodies, multiplied movements, and variations in sounds and energy, to present them with their own chimeras.
Our creature and our universe bear the mark of cubism and surrealism.
The atmosphere we create, both dreamlike and futuristic, is underlain by an electronic and “Abstract” soundtrack that reinforces the feeling of strangeness we wish to convey. Special attention was given to the dancers’ costumes, that aim at redirecting the audience’s attention onto the dancers’ bodies, which appear to duplicate under the spotlights.
