Cie Antoinette Gomis
Antoinette Gomis came to be considered a reference on the French street dance scene for her extensive work, both as a dancer and a choreographer. She first made a name for herself due to her unique locking moves.
After her film studies, she returns to the stage and stars in Wayne McGregor’s musical “Kirikou” in 2007. This new start will later take her to New-York, where she performs alongside Madonna for the launch of her “Material Girl” clothing line.
Upon personal request by choreographer Bill Godson (Michael Jackson, Paula Abdul,…), Antoinette goes to Italy to star as Santa Cecilia on the Chiambretti Sunday Night. She decides to settle in Milan, but regularly participates in European battles (Funky Stylerz, Soul Session, Nike Bring your Troupe, Juste Debout Czech Republic…), where her locking, waacking or house dance skills never fail to impress.
In 2013, she is chosen by online voters to join the PUMA THE QUEST team, where she assists Cirque du Soleil choreographer Salah Benlemqawanssa. On this occasion, she is introduced by the troupe to new styles such as Krump or breakdance.
Today, Antoinette still teaches dance across the world and has set a new challenge for herself: that of being a choreogapher. Her first solo work, IMAGES, was praised at the Breakin’ Convention (Sadler’s Wells Theatre, London), and is now touring, both in France and abroad (the Apollo Theatre in New-York, or the Blumenthal Performing Arts Center in Charlotte, NC).
